Ikea recalls foam confection because of possible contamination by mice
The Scandinavian furniture store Ikea has launched a recall for "GODIS PÅSKKYCKLING Schaumkonfekt". According to the company, the candy could have been contaminated by mice.

Possible contamination by mice
The furniture retailer Ikea, which also offers groceries, recalls the product "GODIS PÅSKKYCKLING Schaumkonfekt" (100 gram pack) with best-before date in the period between 23 October 2018 and 26 January 2019. The MHD can be found on the back of the packaging. Reason for the recall: The candy may have been contaminated by mice.

Recall for "Mice Bacon"
Schaumkonfekt, referred to in the English-speaking world as marshmallows, is also known in this country under the term "mouse bacon".

Ikea's foam sweetener, now affected by the recall, could indeed contain components of mice:

"We have learned that during production of the affected products, mice entered the production unit and could be contaminated," the company wrote in a statement.

Purchase price will be refunded without a receipt
The European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) describes the cause of the recall much more drastically.

"Dead mouse in Easter marshmallows sweets from Sweden", it says on the website.

Ikea asks all customers who have bought the affected packages to return them to any Ikea store for a full refund.

According to company information, no cash receipt must be presented. (Ad)
