09/07/2013

The Swiss Agency for Therapeutic Products Swissmedic warns against Potency from the Internet. These are partly overdosed enormously, so that massive side effects can occur.

Swiss authority warns
The Swiss Medicines Agency for Medicines in Switzerland, the Swissmedic Agency for Therapeutic Products, warns about new analyzes of sexual enhancers on the Internet. Especially with these funds, many people shy away from going to the pharmacy and prefer to order the preparations on the Internet. But many of the Erektionsförderer are partly deliberate and massively overdose and therefore dangerous. For example, the products are often accompanied by a painkiller, but without a declaration. In addition, a strong overdose was declared and included in several remedies.

Higher doses do not mean bigger erections
Swiss customs has already seized around 300 consignments this year. Swissmedic has analyzed every third in the laboratory. About three-quarters of the preparations would have contained the wrong active substance or the declared active ingredient in too low or too high a dosage. „The trend towards massive overdosing is new“, says Swissmedic spokesman Daniel Lüthi. „Higher dose potency means by no means automatically a bigger erection. Worse, it can cause massive side effects, such as cardiovascular discomfort.“

Undeclared pain medication
According to Swissmedic, another questionable finding was the undeclared addition of diclofenac, an analgesic with anti-inflammatory effects. If a patient is already taking this remedy, the additional intake can lead to serious health complications, such as gastrointestinal bleeding. The experts found diclofenac among others in products named „Nizagara“. Originally, a large part of the counterfeit power would come from Asia, but you can now order them through online pharmacies in England or Canada.

Pay with your own health
In Switzerland, the pharmaceutical orders from abroad are declining, but for Lüthi is still a matter of concern: „Consumers may buy cheaper on the internet, but may pay for their health.“ Swissmedic urgently warns the Swiss population against medicines from the internet. In addition, the institute has informed authorities of other countries about the new analysis results, so that it is also possible to take action internationally against dangerous preparations. (Ad)
