He gets into a spiral of fear. But: "Our bladder is a viable organ," says Maleika. Behavioral training and a diet check can be the first interventions to bring improvement.

In some people, the urge to urinate when they hear rippling water. Also, the restlessness and excitement of exams often ensures that the line in front of the toilet gets longer and longer. One usually does not have to worry about frequent urination, at least not as long as no warning signs like blood, pain or fever are added. Attention should be paid, however, if never before problems with frequent urination had occurred.

Indication of various diseases

If a persistent strong feeling of thirst is added, this can be an indication of diabetes mellitus, for example. In addition, frequent urination can also be a sign of cystitis, especially if it is accompanied by urinary symptoms. An irritable bladder also provides constant urination, but only with small amounts of urine. In addition, other possible diseases such as heart failure come as a cause into consideration.

Pee-diary can help with diagnosis

Therefore, it is useful in an overactive bladder to see a doctor. For the diagnosis, it may be helpful to keep a diary of drinking habits and toilets over several days. If necessary, the physician will perform a blood test and carry out further examinations. The therapy depends on the respective diagnosis.

If there is no organic cause, bladder training may help, according to some health experts, but others say it does not help. There is agreement that those affected do not solve the problem by drinking less. This is a pity for the health.
