Brown eggs from ground husbandry recalled because of salmonella
The Hühnerhof Heidegold GmbH has started a comprehensive product recall for brown eggs from ground keeping. The batches concerned may be contaminated with salmonella, so customers are asked to return eggs at the point of sale. Salmonella can be a serious risk, especially for people with weakened immune systems.

Recall campaigns for breakfast eggs have already caused quite a stir in the past, with the dioxin scandal of 2012 likely to be remembered by many consumers. The current product recall, however, was started because of possible Salmonella pressures and remains so far in a relatively manageable framework. The brown eggs of the company Hühnerhof Heidegold were sold, inter alia, via the Netto Marken-Discount and the Backring Nord Isernhagen (Hannover region).

Salmonella detected at routine examination
According to the company, "in a routine check on two batches of brown eggs from barn farming, Salmonella was found on the egg shell - not in the eggs themselves." In view of possible health risks, Hühnerhof Heidegold GmbH has therefore launched a comprehensive recall campaign. All affected trading companies were informed immediately and the remainders, which are still partially available there, were recalled. For precautionary reasons, consumers who have purchased affected brown eggs from floor keeping are also requested to return them.
