Nutwork Handelsgesellschaft mbH has initiated a callback for "K-Classic Almonds whole 200g", EAN 4337185307874, date of expiry date / Batch: 28.02.2019 / L 0230. "Salmonella has been detected in a routine inspection in this batch," said a statement published on the website of the food retail chain Kaufland.

"Consumption of the product with the stated best before date is not recommended," says the company.
Kaufland Germany had taken the affected product preventively from the sale.
Consumers can return the product in any Kaufland - even without presentation of the receipt - against reimbursement of the purchase price.
Bacteria can cause gastrointestinal diseases
Salmonella can be a cause of severe stomach / intestinal disease (salmonellosis).
The disease occurs several hours to days after infection and manifests itself mainly by sudden onset of diarrhea, abdominal pain, malaise and headache.
In some cases, vomiting and mild fever are added.
The symptoms usually disappear after a few hours or days.
