Recall danger of explosion due to apple spritzer

Recall: Danger of explosion through apple spritzer
15.11.2011
The popular drink Apfelschorle has fallen into disrepute. The food company EDEKA calls numerous bottles of soft drink of its own brand „Good & Cheap“ back, because these may pose a danger to the consumer.
EDEKA acknowledges that contamination could have occurred during the filling process. The fermentation process could allow gases in the plastic bottles to expand that could cause the bottles to burst explosively. There is an acute risk of injury! Specifically, these are 1.5 liter PET bottles bearing the expiration date 6th and 7th, 2012 and starting with lot number L1 2922. The affected bottles were delivered in the states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland, Hesse and Bavaria.
Do not open the apple juice spritzer
EDEKA justifies the recall primarily for reasons of preventive consumer protection. The Group has taken the goods as a precautionary measure from the trade. For the already sold bottles, EDEKA strongly advises against opening the bottles. Further questions are answered by the customer service of the group under the email address:. On presentation of the receipt, the purchase price in the supermarket will be refunded without any problems.
Apple spritzer is generally considered to be a popular German folk drink, which, not least because of its composition of minerals and carbohydrates, contributes to health regeneration, especially after sporting activities. Since the affected bottles have already been removed from the markets according to EDEKA, there is a risk of injury to the consumer only in the case of the above-mentioned batch. All other apple spritzer products can continue to be consumed without reservation. (Sb)
