Natural remedies also help with allergies

Fragrant flowers and bright sun ring in spring every year. What gives many people the winter blues and joy, makes allergy sufferers but often life difficult. Due to flying pollen again begins the time of the running noses, itchy eyes and scraping necks. Affected sometimes suffer from these symptoms for weeks. To avoid all this, a three-year specific immunotherapy, called hyposensitization, is the drug of choice. But not always can it be done or are the patients ready for it. In these cases, ENT specialists recommend alternative therapies for naturopathy.
„In an allergy, the immune system is hypersensitive to harmless substances such as pollen or animal hair and causes in most people with allergies, colds, sneezing and stuffy noses“, explains Dr. Uso Walter, ENT doctor from Duisburg and CEO of HNOnet NRW. ENT specialists generally treat allergies with hyposensitization. They administer to patients by injection, drops or tablets the triggering allergen in increasing dosage. Given over a period of up to three years, the body gets used to it and does not respond hypersensitive. Patients usually remain free of allergies for around ten years thereafter.
Otolaryngologists also treat allergies with naturopathic therapies such as acupuncture. On the energy pathways of the body - the so-called meridians - are acupuncture points, with which the doctor can influence the flow of energy. By stimulating the points with thin needles they regulate over- or under-activities of the body and help it to balance again. In some cases, allergy symptoms improve immediately after the first treatment. For most patients, they diminish permanently after 5 to 10 sessions. Even the ear acupuncture, in which the needles are stung only in the auricle, is very effective in allergies.
Another option is the autologous blood therapy. In this case, the patient is drawn from the blood and - untreated or mixed with active ingredients - injected back into the gluteal muscle. The resulting non-specific immune reaction of the body helps in many cases to mitigate allergic reactions.
„Even with bioresonance procedures, there is good experience in allergies, especially in patients who have many different allergies. ENT specialists measure disturbed electromagnetic signals of the body and send back corrective radiation via a bioresonance device. Own signals in the body thus normalize“, explains Dr. Rainer Broicher, ENT doctor from Cologne.
Alternative medical treatments rarely cause side effects. In rare cases, skin irritation may occur through injections or acupuncture needles. In spite of their good compatibility, natural remedies are not suitable for everyone. For example, in people with blood clotting disorders ENT doctors do not treat allergies with autologous blood therapies. To find suitable alternative medical procedures, sufferers talk best with an ENT specialist about options. (Pm)
