Measles outbreak in Berlin apparently just before the end

Measles outbreak in Berlin apparently just before the end / Health News
The violent measles wave, which has hit Berlin for about a year, is apparently nearing the end. Only very few new cases became known. During the weddings of the outbreak even a vaccination against measles was considered.

Only a few new cases
Almost a year after the severe outbreak of measles in Berlin, the authorities now register significantly fewer cases, according to a news agency dpa. According to the current weekly report of the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (LaGeSo), a new disease was reported each week in the second half of August. Thus the trend is "strongly declining". Around 1,360 people were affected by the outbreak in October 2014 in the capital.

An infant died
Between the beginning of 2015 and around mid-April, the measles wave reached its peak. At some times more than 80 cases per week had been registered. In February, a first death was reported: A one and a half year old infant died. Paediatricians had warned at the time that babies should be left home for measles. Health experts and politicians had spoken out in favor of vaccination against measles. (Ad)
