Complementary medicine effective and cheaper
Complementary medical care is cheaper
05/11/2014
Complementary medical care is often cheaper than the conventional one. This shows a recent investigation from the Netherlands. The Dutch Eric Baars of the University of Applied Sciences in Leiden and his colleague Peter Kooreman of the University of Tilburg have shown in a recent evaluation that complementary medical care is not only cheaper, but at least as effective as conventional medicine.
Patients cared for by complementary physicians incur lower costs, namely EUR 1,342 per patient less. In addition, patients receiving complementary medicine tend to be better off. Their mortality is also significantly lower than that of conventionally treated patients. (Pm)
