Homeopathy experiences more important than studies
For patients, experience is more important than studies
Results of a recent representative forsa survey show that homeopathy is an important issue for half of all Germans. In the spring, the forsa survey of 1,000 adults in Germany shows that a total of 48 percent of the population has already used homeopathic remedies. For respondents with a high school diploma or study, it is 63 percent. For women, the rate is 60 percent, who are already using homeopathy regularly - 81 percent of them are satisfied with it. In the national average, 76 percent of homeopathy users are satisfied to very satisfied. The survey was commissioned by the German Homeopathy Union (DHU).
The best known means
When asked about popularity, Arnica leads with 82 percent, followed by Belladonna with 57 percent and Calendula with 55 percent. The bottom is Hekla lava with six percent.
Two thirds consider media criticism excessive
Critical reports on homeopathy in the media were also the subject of the forsa survey. The criticism is seen by a good half of all Germans, 51 percent, as helpful for people who have no experience with homeopathy. The critics only consider about one-third of the Germans as objective, regardless of whether they are all or homeopathy users:
both each 37 percent. The critics consider 60 percent of the Germans as a whole and 69 percent of the users of homeopathy overdone.
Experience more important than studies
Forsa, for the first time, asked homeopathy users how important they are to efficacy studies compared to their experience. 69 percent passes their experience. 27 percent think that studies also have to be. (Pm)
