In a Munich fast food restaurant many people were injured after a gas attack. About two dozen people complained of respiratory problems, five guests were taken to the hospital. The police suspect that it may have been pepper spray.
Unknown spray gas
Around two dozen people had been treated for respiratory tract irritation following a gas attack in a Munich fast food restaurant. According to a news agency dpa news agency, a police spokesman said Friday night that five people were taken to hospital. Presumably, a stranger had sprayed in the fast food restaurant in the center of the Bavarian capital, a substance, as initial investigations revealed. A technical defect excluded the fire department.
Police suspect pepper spray
According to the police, there were about 40 guests and employees in the restaurant when, at about 6.30 pm, the first people complained of respiratory problems. Subsequently, the alarmed paramedic examined 25 people who had an itch in their throat or major problems. It is said that the five wounded only came to the clinic for outpatient treatment. They were not hurt very bad. At first, it was unclear what kind of gas it was. As the police spokesman said, it could have been pepper spray.
Irritant causes breathlessness
In Germany, pepper spray is used among other things by the police during demonstrations. The irritant sprayers may deliver the drug oleinoresin capsicum liquid, as a foam or as a gel. The symptoms caused by this occur immediately or a few seconds after spraying. Affected are the eyes, the breathing and the skin. For example, pepper spray can cause swelling of the mucous membranes and immediate closure of the eyelids. By inhaling the irritant usually cough and shortness of breath occur. And on the skin often causes an unpleasant itching. (Ad)
