The right sunscreen for babies

The right sunscreen for babies / Health News
What do I put on my baby on hot days??
The midsummer temperatures are not just wet t-shirts and wet hands for adults. Even babies sweat even in the heat. Therefore, especially the right clothes are important. In an interview with the news agency "dpa", the midwife Anne Rickermann gives tips for the ideal baby summer outfit.

Parents are in the choice of clothes often unsettled
When it's warm outside, many parents are unsure how to properly dress their babies. Especially with newborns, the fear is often great that this could freeze. On the other hand, there is concern about heat shock, so fresh mothers and fathers often have a big question mark when it comes to choosing clothes. However, according to the midwife Anne Rickermann, the right dress is especially important this day because "even the little ones sweat on warm summer days".

Do not let babies sleep naked
Accordingly, one should "even babies [...] dress quietly airy," recommends the expert from the St. Sixtus Hospital in Haltern am See. During the day, it is advisable to wear a short-sleeved body. For infants under six weeks, thin cotton socks would be recommended to avoid risking cold feet or abdominal pain. By contrast, at night, long sleeves could be the better choice. To protect the baby from chilling out during sleep, a thin cotton sleeping bag makes sense. The little ones, on the other hand, should not sleep nude, just as it is important to look out for fresh air in the bedroom and to avoid drafts.

Protect sensitive parts of the body with hat and neck guard
In terms of the right summer outfit for the little ones, parents should also remember that especially the head, the face, the neck and the ears are very sensitive. Therefore, in sunny weather appropriate protection by a hat, a cap or a cloth with umbrella and neck protection is indispensable. At the same time, all uncovered areas of the body should be protected with sunscreen that is especially suitable for children. It is best to apply it carefully for half an hour before leaving home. The remedy should have a sun protection factor of at least 20 on the recommendation of the Federal Center for Health Education. In addition, it should be ensured that it is always generously creamed, since otherwise the sun protection factor can not act accordingly against the UV-A and UV-B rays. (No)
