Checked No chocolate in cheap chocolate pudding
Chocolate pudding is not only popular with children. Of course he should be done best of course. Due to the fast-moving time, however, many consumers often access finished products from the discounter. But in these no chocolate is included, as the ZDF program "WISO plus" reports.
No chocolate in the chocolate pudding
That there are tricks and delusions in food is nothing new. For some products, however, this is particularly noticeable: Chocolate in German chocolate discounters contains practically no chocolate. Some manufacturers add only one percent cocoa powder to the pudding. Also with the competitors it does not look much better. This is shown by a test reported by the ZDF program "WISO plus".
"Cheap Pudding - cheap ingredients"
Whether by Netto, Lidl, Penny or Aldi: Finished chocolate pudding with icing always tastes the same. With a price of 19 cents, it costs the same amount at all discounters. "WISO plus" has worked together with the product developer Sebastian Lege in the "chocolate pudding trick", what you can expect for this price at all. "Cheap pudding - cheap ingredients", is one of the first findings that highlighted the experts. An ingredient that is completely dispensed with is "chocolate as we know it".
Skimmed milk, lots of sugar and vegetable fats
The basic ingredient is of course milk. But: "We only take the water milk," explains the product developer. The industrial product is therefore skimmed milk, which contains only 0.5 percent fat. In addition "very much sugar" comes. 30 grams are used per 200 gram beaker. In addition, vegetable fat and monoglycerides of fatty acids, so that the pudding is beautifully shiny. The whole thing is held together by gelatin, mostly from the pig. That is cheap. In the broadcast, it says: "Pork pork in the pudding. For vegetarians and Muslims, the discount product is sometimes not suitable. "However, this is not rare. Foods are often not vegetarian or vegan, even if that is often not immediately recognizable.
Pudding prefer to do it yourself
Instead of chocolate, only cocoa powder enters the industrial pudding. And not much of that either. Only one to two percent are included in the products of the discounters. "Cocoa is expensive, cocoa is a valuable raw material," says Lege. "Only one percent cocoa powder is required by law," it says in the program. The taste is created by aromas. To ensure that the "icing on top" does not collapse, something has to be helped. According to the experts, this happens with stabilizers as well as with some gas. If you look at the contribution of ZDF, you get an incentive to prepare your own pudding in the future. Homemade food tastes best anyway. (Ad)
