When stress in everyday life helps Chinese medicine
Balance through holistic therapies

Time pressure, obligations, interpersonal problems, work overload - too much stress makes you sick. Those affected feel less and less able to cope with everyday tasks and at some point the weekend is no longer enough for recreation. Fatigue, insomnia, tension and pain make recovery even more difficult. Many feel health effects but only too late, because not infrequently lead to constant overloading to burnout, high blood pressure or cardiovascular diseases. In the background of severe illnesses, Chinese medicine often sees stress as a trigger and knows helpful measures that lead to more balance in everyday life.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), stress is closely related to the middle organ of the body, the abdomen. „In our view, the belly does not just process food, but also feelings and social challenges. As a permanent companion in everyday life, stress overwhelms the middle organ in its sorting function and disturbs the control of the immune system“, knows Dr. Christian Schmincke, TCM expert and medical director of the Klinik am Steigerwald. Thus, stress prevents the body from an adequate defense reaction, infections spread and burden the organism in addition. Many stressed people - rushed as they are - then do the rest: they think „Just do not get sick“ and often suppress the first signs of an infection with premature drug use. Unhealed remains of a disease then remain in the body and overtax the immune system in addition. Severe depression, headaches, back problems, gastric ulcers or intestinal complaints, fatigue and severe tiredness can quickly lead to work incapacity or make everyday life into agony. In order to recognize stress as the cause of these serious illnesses, extensive doctor-patient discussions, in addition to the use of Chinese diagnostics in the form of pulse and tongue diagnosis, are an important part of Chinese medicine.
TCM experts take a lot of time to do this and also help stress-stricken people with their lifestyle. „Many patients often experience crises during treatment, but in the end there is a stable improvement“, knows Dr. Schmincke from experience. But this only succeeds by embedding the discussions in a comprehensive therapy concept. 5-pill therapy includes acupuncture and moxibustion, gentle body therapies, Qi Gong and vegetarian diet, as well as treatments with Chinese medicines, which always form the basis.
However, some people already help simple measures to prevent serious diseases. Thus, daily exercise in the wild is a must to gain distance from everyday life. Meditative Qi Gong exercises relax and harmonize your psyche and mind. Stress sufferers are already doing a lot for their health by providing enough balance after stressful phases: after a strenuous shopping, put up a quarter of an hour or walk around the block after a quarrel with the partner. Those who heed these methods, achieve an automatic change of lifestyle. They provide those affected with new perspectives and pave the way for sustainable balance. (Pm)
