AOK additional contribution to all health insurances
AOK boss: All health insurance companies will collect additional contributions
18/11/2014
The contribution relief from the statutory health insurance will probably provide only minimal financial relief for the insured in the opinion of the AOK boss Jürgen Graalmann. From the coming year, parallel to the planned lowering of the contribution rates, the levying of additional contributions to all statutory health insurance funds is to be expected, explained Graalman in an interview with the „Tagesspiegel“.
The circle of estimators assumes an average additional contribution of 0.9 percent, which effectively reduces the contribution reduction from 15.5 percent to 14.6 percent, the AOK chief reports „Tagesspiegel“. The level of health insurance premiums is therefore expected to remain almost constant.
By lowering the contribution rate by 0.9 percentage points, the statutory health insurance in Germany will be missing next year, according to Graalmann eleven billion euros, which is why it is assumed that all health insurance from January 1 will make an additional contribution. In addition, there is a fundamental problem in the health care system, with spending rising twice as fast as revenue. So far, this has been masked by the good economy and reforms in the medicines and the higher tax subsidies. However, the structural gap will emerge more clearly in the future. The policy must „Act now in any case“, to avoid further increases in additional contributions in 2016. (Fp)
