Tasks of the skin

With a surface of about 1.7 square meters, a thickness of 1.5 to 4 millimeters and a weight of 3.5 to 10 kilograms, the skin is the largest organ of the human body. It protects the body from influences such as heat, cold, the environment, pathogens and separates the inside from the outside.

The skin is one of the sensory organs. It is equipped with tactile corpuscles and sensory cells. Thus, it can perceive pain and temperature changes. It releases fluid through its sweat glands, and it helps regulate body temperature by narrowing or widening the skin vessels. The skin breathes, removes toxins from the sweat and stores the precursor of vitamin D3.

Seen holistically, the skin is the so-called "mirror of the soul". This means that sensations, mental problems and stress on the skin can be read off. The skin reflects the organic and emotional states. Everyone knows the blush of a person in surprise, shame or shyness.

Proverbs, such as "ward off your own skin" or "it gets under your skin", draw attention to the sensitive part of the skin. The skin is also a reflection of organic disorders. For example, liver disease causes itching, gall blight causes yellowing of the skin, heart valve defects lead to red cheeks, and massive kidney disease leads to a pale gray complexion.

The acid mantle of the skin

The so-called acid mantle has a pH between 5.2 and 5.9, so it is in the acidic range. Looking back more than 50 years, the average was higher then in the range of 6.2. The baby in the womb remains in the amniotic fluid for nine months, which is absolutely basic. Who does not want to have such tender skin as the baby does?.

The acid, which in later years is then on the skin and is referred to as acid mantle, is sometimes caused by the acids that are in the body, penetrate to the outside and then deposited on the skin surface. The pH of the skin slips more and more into the acidic area and at the same time increases the number of allergies and skin diseases. This value has nothing to do with actual protection, but only reflects the amount of acid.

Even with newborn babies, care must be taken to ensure that the delicate baby skin is not over-groomed, not too strong and cleaned too frequently, so that the natural balance of the skin is maintained.

Basic care of the skin

More than 50 years ago, it was perfectly normal to support the skin with natural, alkaline care products. A well-known example of this is the core soap, whose pH is between 8.5 and 8.0, ie completely in the basic range. But this "natural soap" was banned for years and replaced by acid care products, the so-called acid mantle, replaced. Unfortunately, the modern acidic care products are often made on the basis of oil with the addition of chemical compounds, which adds to the strain on the skin.

Basic body care uses osmosis to dissolve and remove acid. In addition, the skin is stimulated to release the slags and initiate a natural refatting.

Base Baths: Instructions and Effects

Basic skin care starts with regular base baths. Either as a full bath and / or as a foot bath. Before the base bath at least half a liter of water or tea should be drunk to assist the body during the subsequent purification process.

A base bath has a pH of at least 8.4 before it starts. This can be measured with the help of an indicator paper. The bath with the temperature of about 38 degrees Celsius, the base powder is added, and that much so that at least a pH of 8.4 is reached. The bath time should not be less than 45 minutes, but not more than two hours. As the bath time increases, the pH drops, down to about 7.5. This is done by the acids, which are released from the body via the osmotic action of the base bath and then enter the bath water.

The duration for a Basenfußbad is between 30 and 60 minutes with approximately the same temperature. After the bath you should rest and drink a lot. Pure water or herbal tea is recommended here. The whole process can be supported by a base tea, to which various medicinal plants are added, which purify and also form bases. Bases Full baths are performed once or twice a week, with footbaths allowed more often. After a base bath, the body is not creamed, since the process of deacidification has an endogenous moisturizing effect.

Bases from inside

No interior without outside and no outside without interior. So you support the skin from the inside with a balanced, alkaline-rich diet. This includes the amount of pure drinking water of at least two liters a day, as well as healthy, basic foods. When it comes to basic food, it is important to avoid or greatly reduce all animal foods (meat sausage, dairy products, fish) and above all to eat vegetables and fruits.

To support the body even from the inside out, basic minerals can be taken in the form of tablets or powder. This is especially advantageous if the meals have to take place outside the home and they can not be put together by themselves. Base days support basic body care. On these days, for example, only fruits or cooked potatoes are eaten.

Bases from the outside

As the pH of the skin is predominantly acidic, care products have been produced for years, which also have an acidic pH. This acidly turns sour and the situation of the acidic skin, which was actually caused by the slagging of man, is thereby worsened. The so-called acid mantle is not a protection in the usual sense, but with its acidic pH value only represents the situation of the skin. The more the body is bombarded with acids, the more acidic will be the pH of the skin.

Basic body care has a healing effect and can help to neutralize acids. Basic body care was already practiced by the Romans and the Greeks. So Cleopatra bathed in donkey's milk to get tender skin. About 70 years ago, basic body care was a normal thing. It was used core soap, which has a basic pH of about 8.5.

Basic body care products, which are also really basic, have a pH in the basic range, which means that the value must be greater than 7. In addition, basic personal care products should be made from natural raw materials, free from animal products, preservatives, and petroleum, and should not contain any synthetic additives. Basic body care calms, cleanses, softens, balances and refreshes the skin. (sw, updated on 6.10.2017)
