Colloidal silver - application, hazards and benefits
Effects and side effects of silver water
Colloidal silver consists of extremely small, positively charged silver particles. These smallest particles have a diameter of 0.005 to 0.015 μm (1 μm = 1 millionth of a meter). They do not sink to the bottom of the vessel because they constantly repel each other due to their electrical charge. Added to this is Brownian molecular motion, which prevents it from sinking. The precious metal was formerly used against demons and diseases. Scraped and mixed with a variety of plants, for example, it was a remedy for rabies and nosebleeds.

Silver - Historical Review
Already in ancient times, silver was known in the treatment of diseases. Greeks, Romans, Chinese and Indians used this. The Benedictine and Healer Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) used the precious metal to treat coughing and mucus. The well-known German physician Samuel Hahnemann (1755 - 1843), the founder of homeopathy, included silver compounds in his homeopathic remedies. The acupuncture discovered more than 5000 years ago has been and still is used for silver needles. Also in alchemy was and still is the so-called "Argentum Potabile" (silver essence) known, which belongs to the metal essences.

Thus, supplies were stored in silver vessels and eaten with silver cutlery. Silver coins in milk prevented the sour and put in water, they made this more durable. The metal was also used for preservation. In the mid-19th century, the colloidal form of silver was discovered. At the beginning of the 20th century, this was further explored and finally acknowledged their germicidal effect.
What is colloidal silver??
Colloids are the smallest particles or droplets that occur in a medium, here in water. Their size is between 1nm and 10nm. It is visible in the form of a veil. Colloidal silver is a so-called dispersion consisting of pure silver and water that is free of minerals.
One liter of water contains about three to fifty milligrams of precious metal. Through the process of electrolysis, it is released to the water. If two silver rods are immersed in distilled water and a voltage is applied thereto, the ultrafine particles dissolve after a short time.
modes of action
Colloidal silver is now used in a variety of diseases. However, the mode of action is not fully understood until today. It kills bacteria and viruses and inhibits various parasites and fungi. The metal comes in the form of the smallest particles, which allows it to penetrate easily into the body and there to reach the most remote "areas".
In bacteria, it penetrates into these and takes their breath away, which means that the metabolism of these invaders is prevented and thus the bacterium dies. The "healthy" bacteria in the body remain unscathed, because silver is directed only against the aggressive variants.
In the case of viruses, destruction takes place by destroying certain nucleic acids that are important for the life of viruses. Protozoa, fungal spores and plasmodia are also killed. Destroyed parasites are then eliminated from the body. Yeast fungi breathe their lives as the precious metal inhibits the enzyme phosphomannose isomerase.
Liquids that contain the tiniest silver particles, however, not only have a destructive effect, but also a supportive effect. It promotes cell growth and stimulates wound healing, inhibits histamine release in allergic reactions and strengthens the immune system. If the body is burdened with heavy metals, it can be detoxified, for example, by the gift of colloidal silver.

In the application quantity and purity are very important components. Ingestion is either undiluted or mixed with some water and should be kept under the tongue before swallowing. The silver water must not come into contact with a metal container or spoon. Therefore, it is best to use plastic or wood.
Examples of internal use are colds, flu infections, bacterial inflammation, sore throat, diarrhea, gastritis, colitis, allergies, bad breath, gingivitis, Candida albicans, chronic fatigue, viral infections, ophthalmia and amalgam discharge.
Especially if an antibiotic is the drug of choice, but it does not work because the underlying bacterium has developed resistance, the experiment is highly recommended.
In diseases of the mouth and throat can be gargled with the means and the mouth rinsed with it. Eyes are extremely sensitive, but also here the use is possible. Both as a nasal spray, for example, for colds or sinus infections, as well as for vaginal and rectal administration, this is also suitable.
If the colloidal silver to show its effect, especially in the colon, for example due to a bacterial Dybakterie (inbalance of the bacteria), the intake of a large amount of water is recommended so that it is not already absorbed in the digestive tract. A subsequent cure with yoghurt and / or physiological intestinal bacteria is also recommended, but only if very high doses.
In general, the dosage should be designed sparingly and follow the instructions of the respective manufacturer. Also, the application should not be made without consultation with a therapist. Even the smallest amounts are able to kill pathogens. The purer the product, the less is needed. The more acute the disease, the more frequently colloidal silver is used.

Silver water is a good emergency remedy to treat wounds, inflammation, burns and insect bites. It is also helpful in psoriasis (psoriasis), atopic dermatitis, poorly healing wounds, herpes, athlete's foot, warts, allergies, various skin irritations and much more.
The Argentum Colloidale is sprayed either with the help of a spray bottle, dabbed with a soaked pad or placed on the affected area. The application is best done several times a day. Another option is to apply cream containing colloidal silver.
Application in the household
Argentum Colloidale is also used in the household. Since this can kill a variety of germs, a use for daily cleaning, especially in the kitchen, bathroom and toilet is possible.
General
Silver containing preparations should always be shaken before use. It is also important to store, light protected, cool and never in the vicinity of electromagnetic fields, such as a refrigerator, TV, mobile phone or microwave.
The concentration is given in ppm (parts per million). This is the number of silver particles in relation to the water content. 50 ppm therefore means that 50 mg of silver are contained in one liter of water. The versatile "silver water" is a good companion in the home and first aid kit.

For the application the quality is very important. A high quality product is always clear and transparent. The taste should be something metallic. Likewise, the quality of the water purification and filtering device plays a major role in the production. No salts may be added. The color says nothing about the quality. So it can be slightly yellowish or brownish, as long as it is completely clear.
side effects
When used properly, there are usually no side effects to worry about. Also, interactions with other drugs are not known. When using extremely large amounts or when there is renal insufficiency, so-called argyria (blue discoloration of the skin and mucous membranes) may occur. This is caused by deposits of silver.
If larger amounts of colloidal silver are taken over a longer period of time, eventually the physiological bacteria in the intestine can also be killed. Therefore, the consumption of yoghurt or physiological intestinal bacteria is usually recommended concomitantly, if with slightly larger amounts of the large intestine to be treated.
A possible side effect should be pointed out, namely a possibly occurring short-term first aggravation, which is considered completely normal in naturopathy in a variety of therapies. If this occurs, the intake is simply interrupted until the symptoms have resolved.
Use in animals
Dissolved silver products can be used both externally and internally in animals. Similar to children is here to dose carefully. Time and again, pet owners report on how they have successfully used silver in the treatment of their pets, such as wounds that healed faster by spraying with the drug, or mouth infections, diarrhea, bladder infections, and more.
Pet blankets and pillows can be kept clean with colloidal silver as this can kill parasites. However, the treatment should be clarified beforehand therapeutically. (sw, last updated on 21.12.2017)
