Inflamed discs are usually associated with significant back paincauses
Most of the inflammation is caused by staphylococci and is called nonspecific spondylodiscitis. The term "specific spondylodiscitis" is used when the inflammation of the disc (diszitis) and vertebral body (spondylitis) by the tubercle bacterium, ie in the context of tuberculosis, was triggered.
As with spondylitis, the pathogens usually migrate from other regions of the organism or can enter as part of open injuries or surgery.
complaints
The symptoms can be uncharacteristic and depend on the severity and stage of inflammation and localization. Of course, there are of course back pain or low back pain. If the inflammation spreads to surrounding tissues, flank pain, sensory disturbances or irritations, weakness in movement, neck tension, sciatic pain or stiffness in the back can also occur. As it is an inflammation, fever associated with chills may also be present.
Spondylodiscitis should always be taken very seriously and medical treatment promptly initiated as inflammation may affect adjacent regions, e.g. the organs, spread over. (Thorsten Fischer, Naturopath Osteopathy)
