Callback for flip-flops started
According to a report from the internet portal "produktwarnung.eu", the textile discounter Primark is recalling flip-flops after checks confirming that Chrysene's polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) content is too high. It is said that the shoes in question were sold EU-wide through Primark stores from 4 January 2017 to 2 June 2017.
Do not wear affected articles anymore
Affected by the recall are flip-flops in the color Kaki - 02387/07, 08, 09, in Black - 02387/01, 02, 03, in blue - 02387/04, 05, 06 and in dark blue - 02387/10, 11, 12.
It is strongly recommended to stop wearing flip-flops that have already been purchased and return them to the stores. The purchase price will be refunded according to the company.
Chemicals in flip-flops
"Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) are carcinogenic, can alter the genome and have reproductive properties," writes the Federal Environment Agency on its website.
Chrysen has also been shown to be carcinogenic in animal studies.
In the past, research has shown that flip-flops are often contaminated with chemicals.
Health experts advise against these flip-flops but also because they are harmful to the feet. (Ad)
