Good for the immune system and effective against diarrhea

Already more than 100 years ago, the Heidelberg pediatrician Professor Ernst Moro discovered that a soup of carrots is effective in combating diarrheal diseases. His carrot soup helped so well that the mortality rate of diarrheal children dropped dramatically. Modern medicines such as antibiotics and antidiarrheal drugs have forgotten the healing power of carrots. Wrongly?

Carrots are ideal for our immune system. They are rich in vitamins C, B1, B2 and vitamin E as well as in the minerals potassium, calcium, phosphorus and iron. Carrots also contain a lot of beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. In addition, carrots are very low in acidity and are recommended in addition to the daily brushing as a natural dental care. Fresh carrots can be eaten unpeeled, then many important ingredients are preserved.

The healing power of carrot soup

Nobody knew then why the carrot soup worked so effectively and saved many lives. It was not until nearly 100 years later that Professor Dr. Josef Peter Guggenbichler and the Viennese pharmacologist Professor Johann Jurenitsch the mechanisms that provide in the soup for the healing effect. The ingredients of the soup prevent the pathogens from settling in the intestine and are therefore easily eliminated.

How diarrheal diseases arise

A disease with diarrhea arises when bacteria or viruses such as coliform bacteria, salmonella or rotavirus in the intestine settle and spread there. For example, E-Coli bacteria must first attach to the intestinal wall to develop their pathogenic effects. If they do not succeed, the pathogenic germs are simply eliminated.

Carrot instead of antibiotics

This effect is exploited by the carrot soup according to Moro. The long cooking produces so-called acidic oligogalacturonides. This substance is similar to the receptors found on the inside of the intestine (intestinal epithelium), to which the pathogens normally attach. Due to the similarity to the receptors of the intestinal epithelium, the germs bind to the substances from the carrot soup and are excreted, without that they can develop their pathogenic effect.

No risks and side effects

The effect of the soup is free from risks and side effects. In contrast to antibiotics, which can lead to resistance and other disadvantages. Because many antibiotics are not targeted and destroy other pathogens besides other pathogens that are important for the intestinal flora. This, in turn, can disbalance the bowel, cause other side effects or sequelae, and require bowel rehabilitation.

Simple preparation of the soup

The preparation of the soup is simple, inexpensive and requires only a few ingredients. You only need 500 grams of peeled carrots, some salt and water. That's all. So the carrot soup after Moro is prepared:

  1. Peel 500 grams of carrots.
  2. Cook the peeled carrots for one hour.
  3. Then squeeze the boiled carrots through a sieve or puree with a blender.
  4. Refill the mass with boiling water to one liter.
  5. Add three grams of cooking salt.

For diarrheal diseases, the soup should be taken several times a day. In addition to the soup, other natural home remedies for diarrhea can help. Even if the soup has proven itself many times, a doctor should always be consulted for severe diarrheal diseases. (Vb)
