TK report The number of salmonella diseases has dropped sharply
Salmonella diseases declined sharply in the first half of the year
In Saxony-Anhalt significantly fewer people in the first half of 2015 were suffering from salmonella than usual. According to a report by the news agency dpa, the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK) reported on Tuesday, citing an evaluation by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), that a total of 275 gastrointestinal infections were reported by salmonella. According to the information, this is only half as many cases as on average in the first half of the past five years. Dangers exist especially on hot days. Special caution is therefore necessary when storing protein-rich foods. Nutrition experts advise anyway, that one should rather abstain from certain foods in high heat, such as Mett or raw egg.
Bacteria cause discomfort in the gastrointestinal area
Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause various diseases in humans, especially in the gastrointestinal tract. So it can come to the consumption of discomfort such as abdominal pain, fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Especially in infants, toddlers, people with weakened immune systems and seniors, such symptoms can occur. In addition, the vomiting diarrhea of Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) in the further course can lead to dehydration (internal dehydration) of the organism with additional health consequences.
