Doctor from Fulda is due to negligent assault in court

11/24/2011

A 63-year-old doctor from Fulda is accused of negligent injury. Despite the serious reproach, the physician remained silent on Thursday in the courtroom. Three patients who underwent surgery on the same day suffered a severe streptococcal infection.

Hygiene deficiencies in the operating theater
The prosecution accuses the doctor, despite serious hygiene deficiencies in his operating center to have carried out the operations. Some of the devices and instruments were said to have rusted and polluted. This is supported by the fact that the three patients were all operated on the same day by the doctor and had to be hospitalized shortly afterwards with a severe streptococcal infection.

Severe consequences
One patient had to have one leg amputated to save her from death after being in a coma for three weeks. Another patient was diagnosed with acute renal failure after treatment in the operating room of the accused physician. All affected patients had to undergo multiple surgeries - a total of 27 operations were performed to save the lives of the three patients. The health authorities reacted promptly and closed the practice. In August 2011, however, the operating room was released again.

The physician denies all allegations, but showed himself to the Hessian broadcasting affected: „ It is staggering. I do not have an explanation. "(Ag)
