Summer temperatures So you stay cool even in the heat
Most people are happy about the current summer temperatures. Finally, you can go for a swim during the hot days or relax in the garden. But some people are also struggling with the heat. Experts explain how they can stay cool despite the high temperatures. Above all, it is important to drink a lot.
Health complaints in high heat
For days in many regions of Germany high summer temperatures over 30 degrees prevail. But while it may not be warm enough for some, others suffer from the heat. In fact, it is not uncommon for complaints such as dizziness, headache, and tiredness to accumulate on hot days. But there are ways and means to defy the heat and associated health problems. It is important to always drink enough.
Consciously motivate yourself to drink
When temperatures rise above 30 degrees in the summer, drinking is especially important. Because when we sweat, we lose with the sweat liquid, which must be replaced in any case. This is the message of the Federal Center for Nutrition (BZfE).
Even at normal temperatures, we need about one and a half to two liters of fluid daily. In heat and physical activity it is correspondingly more. That can account for up to one liter per hour. It is not always easy for some people to drink so much.
Harald Seitz, Nutritionist at the BZfE advises to deliberately motivate himself to drink: "Place a bottle or decanter with water in the immediate vicinity, for example on the desk. So you always keep an eye on that you drink enough ".
Watery fruits and vegetables
In addition, you should drink well before and after meals and always have a drink during walks, car rides or sports.
As a thirst quencher in addition to tap and mineral water unsweetened herbal and fruit teas and diluted with water fruit juices are suitable. These also provide vitamins and minerals.
Our body absorbs fluid but also through the food. Not for nothing are cold vegetable soups popular in the hot Mediterranean countries.
Eating water-rich fruits and vegetables helps keep you cool on hot days. For example, melons, cucumbers, cocktail tomatoes or berries are suitable as a snack or snack.
Sleep tips for hot nights
Attention should also be paid to the right clothing. For example, thin, light-tight fabric that absorbs perspiration and is heat-permeable at high temperatures is recommended. The sweat must be able to evaporate on the skin.
Cooling is also possible by washing hands, neck and face with cold water. Even a lukewarm shower provides relief here, as the body temperature drops through them again.
However, a cold shower puts a strain on the circulation and should therefore be better avoided.
At night you can turn a hot water bottle into a cooling bottle, which helps to sleep in the summer heat. (Ad)
