Honey relieves nocturnal cough of sick children
Especially now in the winter months, many children catch a cold. Complaints like nocturnal coughs usually cause bad sleep. In such cases, parents should not rush to medication. It is usually possible to cure the cough of children by natural means.

Relieve cough by natural means
Winter time is cold time: Especially children show a special susceptibility to infections. If they get sick with nocturnal coughing and are therefore unable to sleep, parents should not resort to medication right away. There are also many effective home remedies for cough that have no problematic side effects. For example, parents should provide fresh air in the room before going to bed. You can also try it with some honey for the offspring: Stir in tea or a glass of milk half an hour before going to bed.

Successful honey treatment
Especially in naturopathy, healing with the home remedy honey has been widespread for a long time. Meanwhile, there is evidence in scientific research that honey relieves the nocturnal cough in children. For example, in a study from Israel a few years ago, it was found that cold infants from one year of age can be successfully treated with honey. However, as the magazine "Good pills, bad pills" (issue 1/2016) writes, a pediatrician should always be consulted if the cough lasts longer than four weeks.

Fever is best measured in the butt
The Association of Paediatricians (BVKJ), according to a message from the news agency dpa, points out that parents should measure rectally their children who have a fever, as this provides the most accurate results. That fever measurement in the rectum works best have already been shown in scientific studies. The child should lie on his stomach for the measurement and the thermometer should be rubbed with Vaseline. The thermometer, which may be inserted no more than 2.5 cm deep, is held by the parents during the measurement, the child is not left alone.

Always measure with the same method
The second best method is the measurement in the ear: From about six months, parents can use an ear thermometer. However, the temperature should not be measured in the ear when the offspring is currently suffering from a disease such as an ear infection. To be able to compare fever values, ideally the same measuring method should always be selected. On the questions of when to go to the doctor, my health experts, that this is advisable in babies under three months with a body temperature from 38 degrees. With older children, parents go to fever for a period of three days, or if the child is worse, to the doctor. (Ad)
