Snoring Sleeping on his back a trigger of dangerous breathing?
In people who snore, sometimes even respiratory failure occur. Patients should consult a doctor. Because these dropouts are stressful for our body: the risk for various diseases is increasing.
Increased risk of cardiovascular disease
Snoring is not only annoying for the partner. It prevents a restful sleep and may be accompanied by respiratory failure. Physicians call this syndrome "sleep apnea". According to experts, around two percent of women and four percent of men between the ages of 30 and 60 are affected by nocturnal respiratory distress. Oxygen deficiency increases the risk of high blood pressure, cardiac arrhythmia, heart attack and stroke. If you suspect sleep apnea people should urgently consult a doctor.
Those affected often do not notice the dropouts
The problem is that sufferers often do not notice the dropouts and simply continue to sleep. The bed neighbor, however, is awakened by loud, deep breathing and snoring.
Symptoms of nocturnal problems include headache and a dry neck after getting up, as well as daytime sleepiness.
For example, special vests can help here to prevent the sleeping person from lying on his back. Because that favors the breath, as the news agency dpa reports.
The agency refers to a report of the German Society for Sleep Research and Sleep Medicine (DGSM).
Special respiratory masks can also help if you wear them at night. The masks generate a slight negative pressure and thus pump ambient air into the respiratory tract.
Experts say that tongue pacemakers and splints can also help against snoring. (Ad)
