Do not use foam earplugs several times
Hygiene: Only use foam earplugs once or twice
08/13/2014
Restless sleep and noise are not good for your health. Some people resort to ear plugs when the partner is snoring or the jackhammer rattles in front of the window. For reasons of hygiene, the ear protection should not be used too often.
Noise is harmful to health
If you sleep badly because the partner is snoring or annoyed because the jackhammer rattles in front of the window, it can be detrimental to your health. Noise causes stress in many cases, which can lead to health problems such as headaches or high blood pressure. Affected persons often suffer from internal unrest. And too little sleep leads to tiredness. To reduce the noise, some people resort to earplugs.
Dander can collect dander and sweat
However, for hygienic reasons, consumers should not use foam earplugs more than once or twice because dandruff and sweat collect on the compressible pieces. This explained Marianne Frickel, President of the Federal Guild of Hearing Aid Acousticians (Biha), according to a message from the news agency dpa. With repeated use they also become hard, whereby they are often even in new condition hardly get into the narrow auditory canal.
If you feel pain, remove earplugs
According to Frickel, this tightness causes the ear defenders to slip back and forth in the ear and rub against the skin. This irritates the ear canal and can lead to an unpleasant, aching sensation. Then just take out the earplugs to avoid possible earache. Earplugs are not only made of foam, but also of materials such as soft silicone, wax or with plastic lamellae available. Some cost only a few cents, so financial reasons should not be a reason not to change their hearing protection often enough. (Ad)
