The teleshopping company QVC has been due to detection of Salmonella in dietary supplements „Woman active“, this and prophylactically all other products of the company Natura Vitalis were taken out of the program and frozen deliveries. The State Office for Consumer Protection North Rhine-Westphalia in Essen had indicated that local health authorities after a disease caused by Salmonella in five batches, about 75 000 packages of 400 capsules, of the dietary supplement „Woman active“ Salmonella pathogens. Specifically, it deals with the lot numbers L00100110, L15821209, and L 15501109 and the expiration date (MHD) 01/2012, lot number L16691209 with shelf life 12/2011 and batch number L01300210 with shelf life 02/2012. The batch numbers are each printed on the packs below the best before date (MHD).
Consumers who have packages containing these lot numbers should stop using and dispose of them. QVC stated in a press release that those affected could log on to a hotline and all Natura Vitalis products are being phased out and deliveries stopped. Other products of the company from Essen but are not yet reported as affected. Natura Vitalis itself does not provide any information on the operation on its website. Alone the means „Woman active“ is not there anymore. It should act according to media reports to a tonic.
The salmonella pathogens could cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and fever in humans, the health authorities have officially announced. They are rod-shaped bacteria that were discovered and named around 1900. In recent years, notifiable infections have declined somewhat.
