Irritable Bowel Treatment Caraway oil pads reduce pain
A study sponsored by the Carstens Foundation: Nature and Medicine by a research team from Essen examined the efficacy of cows' oil cows in irritable bowel patients.
Patients in the study were randomly assigned to three groups, each of whom received each of the three interventions rotationally. These consisted either of a heated body rest with caraway oil and a bog heat pad, or a heated body rest with olive oil and a body-warm, unheated overlay of olive oil. The latter should serve to identify the specific effects of heat for a potential relief of symptoms. The treatments were carried out for three weeks each.
The cumin oil supplements were clearly superior to the other interventions in terms of patient satisfaction and symptom relief. In addition, the cumin oil body pads was well tolerated. The study can be found here. (Pm)
