Discounter Netto recalls smoked salmon due to Listeria strain

The supermarket chain Netto Brands Discount AG & Co. KG has started a recall for the offered smoked salmon, as were discovered in the salmon Listeria germs. The bacteria in humans can trigger the so-called listeriosis, which is usually relatively harmless with symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. But in pregnant women listeria are extremely dangerous, as there are significant consequences for the unborn child such as a premature birth, severe damage or even the death of the fetus. Listeria are also a significant health risk for people with already weakened immune systems such as the elderly or the chronically ill, since the infectious disease often affects several organs here and relatively often causes severe inflammation of the brain or the meninges.
Warning about the consumption of smoked salmon with Listeria
The food discounter Netto has therefore launched after the discovery of Listeria in his campaign item smoked salmon immediately a recall and warned consumers against the consumption of fish.
