The seat belt of the highchair „Antilop“ IKEA can open unexpectedly, which brings with it the risk of falling for children, according to the Swedish furniture chain in a recent recall.
In at least eight cases, the safety belt of the highchair had opened unexpectedly and three children suffered minor injuries when falling from the high seat. Therefore, IKEA recalls all safety belts of the high chair and offers the affected customers a free replacement. Affected are about 1.2 million faulty seat belts of the baby chair „Antilop“.
Apparently, the child high chairs seat belts were installed with defects that cause the buckle of the straps can open unexpectedly. In eight cases, customers at the Swedish furniture store chain complained about the faulty seat belts, and three children suffered minor injuries when they dropped out of the highchair. To exclude further hazards to the children, customers are urged to use the seat belts of the „Antilop“-To have children's chairs replaced, according to IKEA's announcement on Thursday. According to the Swedish furniture store chain, the high chair was sold in 46 countries, including Germany. Affected are the „Antilop“-Child high chairs of a Chinese supplier with the delivery number # 17389 and the production dates 0607-0911 (JJMM), which were delivered in the period from July 2007 to November 2009. The affected customers will be offered a free replacement seat belt at the IKEA stores, according to the latest announcement from the Swedish furniture retailer. (Fp)
