Sold by Aldi: Manufacturer recalls sandwich because of possible germ contamination
The food manufacturer H.-J. Dusseldorf's Food & Snack GmbH & Co. KG has launched a recall for its "Snack Time Sweet Chili Chicken on Wheat Bread" product. In the sandwiches that were sold at Aldi South, there may be harmful bacteria.
Sandwich should not be consumed
The sandwich maker H.-J. Düsseldorf's "Snack Time Sweet Chili Chicken on Wheat Bread" is recalled by Fabry's Food & Snack GmbH & Co. KG from Düsseldorf. The company asks all consumers not to consume the sandwich that was distributed via Aldi Süd. "Self-examination has shown that the product can have the germ Listeria monocytogenes," the company writes in a customer information. "This germ can trigger flu-like symptoms and, in sensitive individuals, a very serious disease (" listeriosis ")," it said.

The product can be returned in all branches of Aldi Süd. The purchase price will also be refunded without presentation of the receipt.
For weak and pregnant women, the bacteria can be dangerous
Listeria (Listeria monocytogenes) may trigger a so-called "listeriosis" in humans.
The disorder can cause symptoms such as vomiting, muscle aches, diarrhea and fever.
In healthy adults, the disease usually takes a harmless course, for pregnant women, newborns, the elderly and persons with weak immune defense, but it may be dangerous and, for example, lead to blood poisoning, cerebral or meningitis.
In pregnant women, the risk of premature birth or miscarriage increases.
In extreme cases Listeria can also be fatal. In the summer, parts of Europe suffered several deaths from the dangerous bacteria. (Ad)
