According to a report from the Internet portal "produktwarnung.eu", Noroviruses are currently warning about frozen raspberries from Poland. The pathogen was thus found in a sample. Affected are several EU member states, including Germany. The consumption of foods that are contaminated with the dangerous germs can lead to serious health problems.

Noroviruses in TK-Ware from Poland
Dangerous noroviruses have been detected in frozen raspberries from Poland, which have been marketed in various EU countries.

This is reported by the European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) on its website.

According to media reports, a recall was started for the affected fruit. Affected are the states: Germany, Austria, Poland, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.

According to "produktwarnung.eu", RASFF does not provide any information that can be used by end users, such as potential sales outlets or private labels, so the recommendation should be to refrain from using frozen raspberries from Poland.

Serious health risk
Norovirus infection typically causes severe diarrhea, nausea and vomiting in humans.

In addition, there is often a strong sense of malady with muscle and abdominal pain, occasionally with mild fever and headache.

The severe vomiting can lead to dehydration, which can be felt by a pronounced weakness or dizziness.

In small children and the elderly as well as sick or weak people, the infections can sometimes be severe and occasionally even fatal.

To prevent infection with the dangerous noroviruses, TK raspberries from Poland should not be used at present. It is also important to pay attention to a conscientious hygiene. (Ad)
