A food company from Baden-Württemberg has recalled pesto packs from the retail trade. A spokeswoman for the company Marziale Coolinaria GmbH announced, according to a message from the news agency dpa that have been found in samples bacterial problems. According to the information, a contamination with Listeria (Listeria monocytogenes) was found. As reported on the website "food alert.de", it is the product "Pesto alla Genovese" 100gr with the item No.10163 in a round plastic cup - Basil sauce with pine nuts and parmesan EAN 4260154101633.

Consumption is not recommended
The manufacturer asks the dealers to take the product out of the sale and dispose of it. Consumers should no longer consume already purchased products. It could cause health problems. Listeria are bacteria that are present everywhere in our environment and can occur in all raw foods. Contaminations are therefore not uncommon. Just a few weeks ago, for example, a recall for Gorgonzola cheese was started because of Listeria. Such bacteria may trigger listeriosis. The course of the disease is similar to that of influenza.
