Recall bacteria in adhesive cream

Recall bacteria in adhesive cream / Health News

Recall action expanded: The concern Procter and Gamble recalls Haftcreme. Bacteria could cause serious illness in immunocompromised patients.

(03.09.2010) The Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs is currently warning against the use of affected denture detersive creams. Also in other batch numbers dangerous bacteria were found for the health. If people suffer from a weakened immune system, the bacteria could cause serious and dangerous diseases.

Already in the last week the product "Kukident Super-Haftcreme extra strong neutral" of the lot 0203 was called back by the company "Procter & Gamble" in Austria. In the adhesive creams, the bacteria "Burkholderia cepacia" was found. An infection with "Burkholderia cepacia" can lead to a decrease in lung function and even to death in weakened patients. In addition, the bacteria are considered to trigger chronic lung diseases.

Now apparently in other product series bacteria were found that can be dangerous for humans. These are the „blend-a-dent super adhesive cream extra strong“ with the lot numbers # 0155 and # 0208 and - as already stated on Friday - the „blend-a-dent Super-Haftcreme extra strong - fresh“ with the batch number # 0209. Consumers can check already purchased products for the lot numbers by looking over the best before date on the adhesive cream carton on the right side tab.

The Group is currently recalling all affected adhesive cream products from retailers. If a denture adhesive cream has already been purchased, the product can be disposed of with normal household waste. Prior to further use, however, urgently warned for the reasons mentioned. So far it is not known if people are already ill. However, healthy people are not particularly at risk. (Sb)
