The food company iglo has expanded its recall for frozen parsley with six herbal products. The company warns against the consumption of the product concerned. Frozen herbs may be contaminated with VTEC bacteria. Among other things, these germs can lead to diarrheal diseases.

The food company iglo has significantly expanded its recall for frozen herbs. The company now calls - regardless of the production period - the products parsley 40g and the variants with parsley: 8-herbs 50g, garden herbs 40g, lettuce herbs 50g, herbs of Provence 50g, Italian herbal mixture 50g and 70g soup greens and warns against the consumption of relevant products , "The reason for the extension of the precautionary recall is that VTEC bacteria (verotoxin-producing E. coli) were found when examining a sample of parsley," it says in a press release.

"If consumed raw, it could lead to health problems, such as feverish gastrointestinal disturbances", reports the company.
According to health experts, such illnesses usually manifest themselves within a week of infection with complaints such as diarrhea, severe abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting.
Especially infants, toddlers, seniors and people with weakened immune systems can develop more severe illnesses with bloody diarrhea.
And according to the Bavarian State Office for Health and Food Safety (LGL) develops in five to ten percent of sufferers, especially in preschool children, "following the bowel discomfort (about one week after onset of diarrhea) a serious disease".
Products should be disposed of
As iglo explains, the company takes back the seven variants - as a precautionary measure and independent of the production period - as it is in all parsley.
"It is intended to completely exclude irritations with regard to time limitation, both on the part of consumers and of trade," writes the company.
Iglo asks consumers to dispose of the mentioned products. The purchase price will be refunded. (Ad)
