Back pain particularly often plagues people with office jobs. The constant sitting and working on the PC can lead to significant back problems in case of wrong posture. The right seating position is significantly influenced by the setting of the office chair, explains Barmer GEK in a recent release.
Proper adjustment of the office chair prevents back pain
To prevent back pain, the seat height of the office chair should be set so that the upper arms hang down loosely and the forearms can form a horizontal line to the keyboard, recommends Barmer GEK Niedersachsen / Bremen. In addition, the keyboard should be located about five to ten centimeters from the edge of the table, so that the palm of your hand while writing lie, explained the experts.
Back complaints by working on the PC
The fact that more and more people in Germany suffer from back problems - about one in three Germans is nowadays according to the health insurance of back pain affected - is significantly influenced by the unfavorable posture in office jobs. Although not all back problems are due to working in the sitting, but the office activities without appropriate physical compensation make a significant contribution. By choosing a suitable office chair and its correct setting, however, possible back problems can be prevented relatively efficiently, said Barmer GEK. In addition, according to experts, a little exercise is appropriate on a regular basis. Get up early, stretch a little and go to the coffee machine, can be helpful here. According to the specialists, regular exercises in gymnastics and relaxation would be even better at work, in order to prevent long-term back problems.
Keep distance to the monitor
Since the eyes also suffer from working on the PC, the Barmer GEK recommends exhibiting the monitor best 45 to 60 centimeters away from the eyes. Screens from a size of 17 inches should ideally be positioned at a distance of between 60 and 80 centimeters, the experts advise. (Fp)
