Meat processor Bell Germany has launched a recall for onion meal sausage, as a sample has been found to be contaminated with Salmonella microbial contamination. These bacteria can lead to diarrhea and other health problems.

The meat processing company Bell Deutschland recalls the "Zimbo Spicy Onion Meal Sausage 3x40g" with the best before date 03.02.2019 and the batch number L926012-14. In a single sample of this product "a microbial contamination with salmonella was detected," according to a statement published on the portal "Lebensmittelwarnung.de" of the federal states and the Federal Office of Consumer Protection.

According to the information, the sausage was distributed nationwide and now taken off the market.
"Consumers who have purchased this product are advised not to consume it and to dispose of it as a precaution," the statement said.
Customers can return packs of the affected product to their point of sale or send the packs to Bell Germany for a corresponding purchase price compensation.
Bacteria can cause gastrointestinal diseases
"Salmonella can be a trigger for severe stomach / bowel disease (salmonellosis)," the company writes.
The disease occurs several hours to days after infection and manifests itself mainly by sudden onset of diarrhea, abdominal pain, malaise and headache.
In some cases, vomiting and mild fever are added.
The symptoms usually disappear after a few hours or days.
However, for infants, young children, the elderly, and those with compromised immune systems, fluid loss due to diarrhea and vomiting can be dangerous.
"Due to this health risk, customers should pay attention to the recall and not consume the product," warns Bell Germany. (Ad)
