PKV base rate from 1 April
PKV base rate: The regulation will come into force on 1 April
According to the „Aerzteblatt“ physicians receive a lower fee for private insured persons who have chosen a basic rate for their private health insurance. The agreement between the Association of private health insurances e.V. (PKV), the aid agencies and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KBV) comes into force on 1 April of this year. It will initially be valid until 31 December 2012. However, the regulation will still affect more than 15,000 insured persons who have chosen the basic rate for their private health insurance. However, the agreement between KBV and PKV already stipulates that if more than 100,000 insured persons increase their base rate, the contract can be terminated prematurely.
From the beginning of 2009, private health insurers were required to offer a uniform basic tariff. Since March 2007, the law to strengthen competition came into force, they were obliged to. The current remuneration is 1.16 and 1.8 times the fee rate of the Official Fee Regulations for Doctors (GOÄ). In the future, the medical services will be charged with 0.9 to 1.2 times the GOÄ. Laboratory services will be reimbursed by 0.9 times. (Thorsten Fischer, Naturopath Osteopathy, 16.02.2010)
