New database of nursing home certificates
Database should provide an overview of the quality of nursing homes

In Germany, around 30 certificates and seals provide information on the quality of nursing homes. However, it is difficult for those affected and relatives to assess their benefits. Because the evaluation criteria vary. The Center for Quality Care (ZQP) has developed a database to increase transparency.
Certificates and seals provide only limited information on the quality of nursing homes
„Through reliable information, we want to facilitate orientation in the confusing field of seals and certificates“, explains Dr. Ralf Suhr, CEO of ZQP. The seals and certificates, however, could only give limited information about the quality of the care. Rather, they served to assess structures, processes and offers. „It is more important to get an idea of yourself. Advice seekers should inquire whether the range of services and the atmosphere suit the individual needs of the person in need of care“, So Suhr on. „Also, conversations with the staff, if possible also with the people in need of care and relatives, can help to develop a feeling for the respective home or outpatient service.“
The ZQP website not only lists the individual seals and certificates, but also provides an overview of the widespread certification procedures. In addition, it can be read which areas were included in the evaluation. Among other things, hygiene, equipment, leisure activities and palliative care are assessed. (Ag)
