Regular acupuncture can reduce respiratory distress in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

08/05/2012

As a study by scientists at Meiji University in Kyoto (Japan) found, symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) can be alleviated by the Far Eastern healing acupuncture. The treatment must be carried out at least once a week to relieve the respiratory distress, as the researchers report in their summary.

According to the health magazine "Apotheken Umschau", the Japanese study was conducted for at least three months. The acupuncture was used in addition to the drug therapy of the subjects.

Acupuncture comes from traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). Several clinical studies have shown better effects, especially in the range of pain relief, than conventional therapies. What is new is that now a scientific study has also shown good results in the treatment of respiratory distress and smoker's cough. The health magazine "Apotheken Umschau" 8/2012 A is available in most pharmacies and is delivered to customers without additional payment for health advice. More information about the topic will be included. (Sb)
