17 students from Hünfeld with suspected food poisoning in the hospital

28/11/2012

Because of the suspicion of food poisoning, several students in the district of Fulda had to be hospitalized. The fifth graders of the school in Hünfeld had baked pizza rolls together and then complained of severe abdominal pain. For seven students, the complaints were so massive that they were taken by ambulance to the hospital in Fulda. Ten more students with less pronounced symptoms were taken to the Helios Klinik Hünfeld as a precautionary measure.

About one and a half hours after fifth-grade students consumed the pizza rolls, they began to experience symptoms that could indicate food poisoning. Whether in fact the homemade pizza rolls were the cause of the complaints, should now be determined based on food scraps. According to the authorities, it is suspected that spoiled or bacteria-laden foods have triggered the symptoms. However, results will only be presented by the Veterinary Office of the Fulda district in a few days.

Food poisoning by home-baked pizza rolls
The seven children, who were brought by ambulance to the hospital in Fulda, according to the district, the majority is already well again and some were able to leave the hospital on Tuesday after completion of the necessary examinations. Of the ten children who were taken to the Helios Klinik Hünfeld as a precautionary measure, seven were allowed to return home yesterday afternoon. Now the result of the laboratory tests on the leftovers is eagerly awaited. However, a link with the Community-made pizza roll seems highly probable. (Fp)
