Laboratory tests prove the effectiveness of homeopathic potencies: „The more complex the organism, the clearer the reaction to homeopathic remedies“

21/12/2010

There is a fundamental contradiction between physics and homeopathy: when the highly diluted and shaken homeopathic remedies - that is, the so-called potencies - work, today's physics is for the most part wrong. Strictly speaking, this applies to potencies above a D 23. In this potentiation step, the starting material was diluted 1:10 and shaken, the resulting solution again diluted 1:10 and shaken, and this procedure repeated just 23 times. In a D 23 the original remedy is thus in a ratio of 1: 102; 3; mixed. Physically speaking, according to the Avogadroscher number, not a single molecule of the starting substance is left. Here, any substance-specific effect is excluded. To elucidate the mechanism of action of potentiated drugs would not only bring a Nobel Prize, but would also mean a small revolution in physics.

And what do homeopaths understand by the process of potentiation? Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, founder of homeopathy, describes it in the §269 and 270 of the Organon of the healing arts so: „The homeopathic art of healing develops, for its particular purpose, the internal, spirit-like medicinal powers of the raw substances by means of a peculiar treatment. Through this treatment, the substance of the substance, which in the raw state only presents itself to us as matter, is finally subtilized and transformed into a spiritual potency.“

As part of the nationwide event series Organon 2010 for the 200th anniversary of the Organon der Heilkunst, potentation research was also explored. For both homeopaths and physicists, basic research whose aim is to elucidate the fundamental mechanisms of action is a fascinating topic. An expert in potentiation research is Dr. med. Stephan Baumgartner, physicist and lecturer of the College of Complementary Medicine (KIKOM) of the University of Bern, who presented results of his investigations in Leipzig.

„I am not a homeopath, I am a physicist“, Baumgartner clarified at the beginning of his remarks on laboratory experiments with homeopathic potencies. He examined u. a. the effect of potentiated growth hormones on duckweed and dwarf peas, or the effect of potentiated arsenic on arsenic-poisoned wheat. „We were able to repeatedly observe effects of homeopathic potencies in the laboratory“, Baumgartner told the approximately 70 guests with numerous diagrams and stated: „The more complex the organism, the clearer the reaction to homeopathic remedies.“ Accordingly, the effect continues to increase from cell cultures and microorganisms via plants and animals to humans. There were also models „in imbalance“, So with sick or stressed organisms, clearer results than models with healthy organisms. Against the background of these results, Baumgartner continues to research under the working hypothesis: „Homeopathy is an information therapy“, since a material explanation of the effect is impossible with potencies.

Why he is so interested in homeopathy research, the Swiss finally answered with the quote of a colleague, the Berlin physicist Professor Martin Lambeck: „From the fact that I can not explain a phenomenon, I do not conclude that it does not exist, only that its existence should be tested to serve the advancement of science.“ (German Central Association of Homeopathic Physicians)
