Merger prevents additional contribution to the United IKK
06/15/2011
The planned merger of the IKK Classic with the United IKK prevents for the time being a survey of an additional contribution. Today, the Board of Directors of United IKK agreed to merger. A few weeks ago, the top of the health insurance funds had decided to introduce a retrospective additional contribution, if the targeted merger failed. Only at the end of March were merger negotiations between the two funds failing.
The Board of Directors of the United IKK has approved the merger with IKK Classic. This was announced by a spokesman for the United IKK on Tuesday. In the run-up, the largest guild health insurance fund of the United IKK had submitted a merger offer. As early as the beginning of July 2011, the merger of both cash register points is to be completed, so that the association can be completed this year. Once the merger has been completed, the largest guild fund in Germany is created, which is particularly committed to craftsmen and employees of medium-sized companies.
Just over a year ago, Vereinigte IKK emerged from a merger of duna IKK and IKK Nordhrein. At that time the board of directors hoped for a clear stabilization on the health insurance market. In May, the United IKK announced an additional contribution to be made retroactively to the first of April 2011 from August. Eight euros should pay the insured monthly in addition to their regular contributions. Thus, the insured would have to pay 40 euros in one fell swoop. However, the introduction of the additional contribution could now be prevented. „The merged entity will remain without an additional contribution until 2013.“ It was said on Tuesday afternoon.
The jointly formed health insurance occupies the sixth place in the ranking of statutory health insurance. According to experts, the new fund has a financial budget of about 8.2 billion euros annually.
The United IKK currently has 3.6 million people covered by health insurance. At the IKK Classic, around 1.9 million people are currently insured. The budget of the fund is around 4.1 billion euros. Around 3000 people work full-time for the health insurance company with headquarters in Dresden. In the United IKK about 1.7 million people have health insurance. The cash register has a budget of 4.1 million euros. Around 3,500 employees work for Vereinigte IKK. Whether the merger reduces the number of employees and whether further savings will follow is not yet confirmed. The joint board has not been decided yet. For the insured initially nothing changes. They are only indicated in a letter to the merger. As the name of the new box office is, is also still unclear. Insiders assume that the cash register's name „United IKK“ will wear. (Sb)
