Johannes Bernot Acupuncture Combinations
"In acupuncture it is similar to phytotherapy: At some point you have to deal with the individual acupuncture points and plants and faces the great choice of different combination options. How to write an appropriate 'recipe' for the specific patient?
Image: vkph - fotoliaThat this question is centuries old, is clear in this book. Looking first at the bibliography, it is noticeable that of the 50 or so works listed, only a handful are contemporary, and the vast majority of sources date back to the times we would call 'Renaissance' or 'Middle Ages' in Europe, some even beyond.
From this source, the author draws, in addition to an introduction to the 'combi-art', 188 treatment proposals, which are sorted into 14 classical Chinese groups (such as 'dislodging combinations'). The western indication view can be accessed either via the index or a table, which can also be printed with QR code for practical use.
On a small schema drawing can be found for each indication, the location of the points. Before explaining these, there is an overview of e.g. on the type of execution, the pathogenesis and key symptoms. A small set of modification suggestions, with which the selected combination can be adapted to the situation of the patient, concludes each chapter.
Conclusion: An independent, clear and practical book that reaches from the Western therapeutic situation to the Far Eastern history of acupuncture. - Class! "(HP Tobias Rutkowsky)
