Season of birth determines the character
Season of birth has influence on the character
20/10/2014
Hungarian researchers have discovered that the season in which a human is born shapes the later character. The causes are, unlike some now perhaps expected, not biological, but astrological.
Thus, people born in winter are calm and well-balanced but with a slight tendency towards depression, whereas in the summer, those born are rather over-excited and cheerful. However, they tend to change moods. People whose birthday was in the fall are considered a mix of winter and summer types, and spring children are considered to be "in a good mood" and are "not likely to be mood swayers," as Xenia Gonda of Semmelweis University reported at the European Congress for Neuropsychopharmacology in Berlin: " Biochemical studies have shown that the season in which someone is born has an effect on certain neurotransmitters, such as dopamine and serotonin, and this can be demonstrated even in adults, "reports Gonda.
Search for genetic markers
„Our study examined over 400 subjects and compared their birth season and their later personality types“, Gonda continues in The Telegraph. "Basically, we believe that the birth month has a long-lasting effect." However, it limits: „We can not say anything about the underlying mechanisms yet.“ The team from Hungary now wants to investigate further. „What we are looking for now are genetic markers related to the season of birth and the risk of mental disorders,“ so Gonda.
Markers are in this case unusual forms of genes. "We already know that the birth month has an impact on the risk of certain physical as well as mental illnesses, and researchers now show that it can also affect people's temperaments," comments Eduard Vieta, psychiatrist at the University Hospital in Barcelona the study from Hungary, as the Berliner Morgenpost further reports. The temperament is not a disease, but a biologically influenced behavior and emotional mood. "Although environmental factors can influence the temperament of a human being, we now know that the birth month obviously also plays a role," according to Vieta, according to Berliner Morgenpost.
