Is sweating during sport a sign of inferior condition?
Some athletes just sweat more than others "
Some people are dripping wet after exercising, while others look like they've been peed out of their eggs. For many, the obvious conclusion is that the sweaty person is less fit. A widespread assumption is that whoever sweats a lot also has a worse condition. Is that true? As the news agency dpa reports, says Maja Hofmann of the Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Allergology at the Charité Berlin to Jein. "Some athletes just sweat more than others," she says.
Difference in the amount of sweat
Among other things, it depends on the number of sweat glands. Thus, there may be a difference in the amount of sweat between two athletes at the same training level. An untrained sweats, however, after a 100 -meter run definitely much stronger than a physically active person. In this case, sweating has something to do with the worse condition. The explanation for this: those who are unsportsmanlike, are more strenuous, the body heats up and is cooled by the sweat.
Sweating fulfills various functions
But sweating fulfills even more functions. Among other things, sweat also contains sexual fragrances, which play an important role in sexual arousal and reproduction. In addition, sweat helps maintain the skin's acidic barrier by helping lipids to hydrate the skin. Sweating can also be a reaction to stress or anxiety. And excessive sweating is a potential indication of a serious condition, such as an infection or diabetes. (Ad)
