Nobody was injured
In the pedestrian zone of Pirmasens (Rhineland-Palatinate), a swarm of bees has attacked a bakery and has driven clients and employees to flee. This was reported by the local police, according to a news agency dpa. No one was injured. Those present came away with terror. While sting bees are usually harmless, they can be dangerous to people with an insect sting allergy. In addition to the typical skin reactions, symptoms such as difficulty breathing, nausea or palpitations can occur. In the worst case, even a circulatory arrest threatens. Health experts repeatedly warn that insecticide allergy is often underestimated.
Bees were after icing
The shop in Pirmasens was initially provisionally closed by craftsmen, before a specially alarmed beekeeper could finally capture the swarm. The swarm was probably hungry for food, according to police. A bakery employee had spoken on Saturday from 500 to 700 bees. "It was really extreme." The insects would have gone for anything with frosting: nut slices, snail cake and cherry pies. Each time the door was opened, more bees had flown into the store. "At some point inside and outside everything was full of bees." (Ad)
