Make healing ointments of naturopathy yourself
Because it is good to know exactly where the ingredients and plants come from, which are stirred into a healing ointment, Silvia Zweimüller presents her best recipes. These are old, proven ointments that have been used many times. With a little bit of knowledge about the healing power of the plants and the right ingredients, salve preparation is really easy. From the book "DIY healing salves by Silvia Zweimüller" we present some recipes for self-preparation.
LEGAL OINTMENT (joint ointment)
Ingredients:
• 1 handful of comfrey roots
• 1-2 solomon seal roots
• 250 ml of olive oil
• 22 g beeswax
• 30 g lanolin (wool fat)
• maybe 30-50 ml arnica oil
• maybe a few drops of lavender essential oil
Preparation of oil extract:
1. Wash a handful of comfrey roots clean, dab them dry and cut them with one or two salomone roots.
2. Heat everything in 250 ml of olive oil (max 60-70 ° C) - do not fry! Again and again remove from the plate and reheat (use residual heat!). Repeat this for about 2 days again and again.
3. Strain and express the roots well.
Preparation ointment:
4 Add 22 g beeswax and 30 g lanolin. Heat in a water bath and stir until everything has melted. If arnica oil is available, add about 30-50 ml drop by drop, but then use 25 g beeswax. If you do not want to use lanolin (wool fat, animal origin), you can replace it with cocoa butter or shea butter.
5 If necessary, add a few drops of lavender essential oil.
6 Fill in scrupulously clean jars (I rub them with a kitchen roll soaked in alcohol). Only close when the contents are completely cooled, so that no condensation can form.
Comfrey Symphytum officinale
The roots are dug in October or in early spring. They contain very much allantoin - it dissolves wound secretions and promotes granulation. In conjunction with silicic acid, bone fusion is accelerated. It also promotes cell regeneration, tissue regeneration and blood flow. Comfrey is used for bruises, strains, bruises,
Bone injuries such as fractures, venous diseases and poorly healing open legs, but also all other poorly healing wounds.
Solomon's seal
Polygonatum odoratum
The Weißwurz - as Salomon's seal is also called - works particularly well on ligaments and tendons. From the roots of Salomonsiegel creates an oil extract, which is a particularly effective basis for a joint ointment.
BROWN ROOT LIP BALM (good for cold sores)
Ingredients:
• 60 ml brownwort oil
• 25 g shea butter (or cocoa butter, lanolin, beeswax)
• 25 ml of brownwort tincture
(also strong tea is possible)
Preparation:
Put 1 bayroot oil in a fireproof glass jar. Add shea butter and heat in a water bath, stirring.
2 In another container, heat the tincture to the same temperature.
3 Stir the heated tincture (water phase) into the oil mixture (fatty phase). Not the other way around! At the lowest heat in a water bath leave the alcohol to evaporate for about 30 minutes. Keep stirring. Then remove from the water bath and fill in clean saucepan. If you want a good scent, add a few drops of essential oil of your choice.
4 Fill into lip care pods and apply as needed.
Braunwurzöl is obtained by starting roots in summer and possibly also herb in a good oil (roots from April) and let stand for about 3 weeks warm, then filtered off and the bottle kept dark. If you want to go fast, make a hot extract as with comfrey ointment. (from: DIY healing albums by Silvia Zweimüller, ISBN: 978-3-99025-219-2, 64 pages)
