Healthy and Light Food Trend A plate of Buddha Bowl
Food from the plate was yesterday. The new trend is called "Buddha Bowl". In a bowl healthy treats are piled up until they bulge over the edge like a round Buddha's belly. At the same time, the bowl creations also stand for conscious eating and the enjoyment of as unprocessed food as possible.
In the preparation of the imagination are no limits. Everyone fills his bowl with his personal favorite mix. It should be fresh and healthy. Interesting is the combination of raw and cooked, cold and warm dishes. Since the contents are eaten with wooden sticks, cut the food into bite-sized pieces. The individual ingredients are not underlined as in a classic salad, but lovingly arranged. So the colorful mix is also a feast for the eyes.

In this "nest" come brown rice, glass noodles, couscous or bulgur. Now, in turn, fresh seasonal vegetables are being placed. For example, carrot rasps, corn, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, fried sweet potatoes, steamed broccoli, red cabbage or marinated zucchini from the oven are suitable. Even leftovers from the day before like pasta or a boiled egg can be used here outstanding. Other possible ingredients include tofu, patties, chicken, fish and fried shrimp.
As a topping fresh sprouts, pine nuts, nuts, avocado or a few olives are ideal. Finally, add a homemade pesto or dressing, a yoghurt cream or a peanut sauce over the mixture. Depending on the recipe, Italian herbs, freshly squeezed garlic or a fiery spicy chili paste ensure the right seasoning.
If you want to take the bowl with you to the office, choose a jar with a wire hanger or screw cap for the transport. Dressing or dipping is done separately so that the mixture does not get muddy until lunchtime. The "Buddha Bowl" is therefore a healthy alternative to a snack at a desk or canteen meal. Whether she makes you full and happy like a Buddha, everyone has to find out for themselves. Heike Kreutz, bzfe
