Healthy selection Learning better with the right break bread
Fit and focused: healthy break bread with wholemeal, fruit and vegetables
Older research has shown that many children go to school without breakfast. As a result, concentration in the classroom is greatly reduced. Students should eat something not only in front of the school but also during breaks to stay fit. Experts explain what a healthy sandwich can look like.
Promotion of concentration
According to health experts, having a healthy breakfast for schoolchildren increases concentration and performance. But even the second breakfast during the break is very important - not only for first graders. As the Bavarian consumer center writes in a message, a healthy lunch break helps all schoolchildren to concentrate and stay fit.

When making the sandwich, ingredients should be selected that contain little sugar and ensure that the blood sugar level rises slowly and lasts for a long time.
Daniela Krehl from the Bavarian consumer association cites a few examples: wholemeal bread or bread rolls with hearty toppings such as cheese slices or herbed curd cheese, as well as natural yoghurt with muesli. It goes well with small cut vegetables and fruit.
"If a child does not like something at all, it's better to forego a healthy ingredient before it's eaten," says the nutrition expert.
Krehl points out that variety is important, so that the thought "not again" even does not arise.
It can also help feed the food in other forms, such as bread cut into triangles or a spit.
As a drink, schoolchildren should bring a bottle of water or unsweetened fruit tea.
Popular snacks often contain lots of sugar
Grape sugar to intensify the concentration does not make sense for the expert.
"The glucose contained in the glucose is important for the brain, but this energy boost does not last long," says Krehl.
So it is with many other purchased foods that schoolchildren like to take as a snack break. Their high sugar content is underestimated by many parents.
Such children's snacks with extremely high sugar include, for example, cereal bars or fruit in a squeeze bag.
Be careful with drinks. Cacao, fruit juice and yoghurt drinks are popular with students, but they often contain lots of sugar. (Ad)
